Talented Tots curriculum encompasses the four main subject areas of language arts, mathematics, science and social science. These subject areas are taught through thematic units. We also have a different “exploratory class” each day of the week which includes; Spanish, music, gymnastics, computers and art. We design our curriculum to allow children to have a smooth transition into kindergarten.
Here are some examples of skills that are taught in each of the subject areas:
Every class has targeted skills that are based on the age level of the classroom. Daily activities geared toward these skills will stimulate your child's development and make him/her excited about learning! Here are some examples of targeted skills for each age level:
At this age we focus on fine motor development by helping your baby learn to bat and kick objects and eventually grab them and bang the objects together. We also help your baby strengthen his/her gross motor skills by helping your child gain head and body control through tummy time and a variety of age appropriate toys. Your baby's verbal skills will be fostered through music and repetition of syllables. (I.E.: baba, dada, mama)
Your child will begin to imitate and explore by learning to clap, wave, find hidden toys, and follow simple directions. We provide your child with learning opportunities by teaching him/her how to point and use a pincer grasp and eventually begin to feed him/herself. Our classroom is safe and clean to allow your child to begin to crawl and pull up on objects. We stimulate language development by reading simple books, singing, and repetition.
We encourage your child's mobility by providing a safe, open classroom where he/she can learn to walk/run. Your child will learn how to scribble with crayons, turn the pages of a book, feed him/herself, stack blocks and drink from a cup. Your child will also begin to recognize and say words by daily songs, stories, and activities. We teach your child to identify body parts and begin to teach animal sounds and simple nursery rhymes.
We will encourage your child's language development by showing them how to put words together and eventually talk in sentences. Daily songs and lessons will teach your child his/her ABC's and also how to count. By reading picture books, we will help your child learn to turn the pages in a book and identify familiar pictures. Fine motor skills will be fostered by giving children the opportunity to color, assemble puzzles, paint, use play-dough, and other age appropriate toys. Daily outdoor play time will give your child the opportunity to run, jump, and climb.
Your child's independence will be boosted by giving him/her the opportunity to make choices and begin to do things for him/herself. Your child's vocabulary will continue to grow by learning new songs, hearing stories and interacting with peers. We will begin to teach your child shapes, colors, and name recognition.
Your child will continue to learn colors, shapes and name recognition. He/she will learn to create patterns, sort by color, shape, and size, and also begin to recognize numbers 1-10. Your child will learn new songs and stories through daily circle time and other activities.
Our certified preschool program will provide your child with the opportunity to recognize letters, numbers, shapes and patterns. In this class, your child will be learning to write their name and begin to copy letters and numbers. Your child will also begin to retell stories and imitate reading patterns. Social interaction among peers will be fostered through organized activities and games. Gross motor development will be stimulated by daily outdoor time where your child will be able to run, jump, climb, and balance. Fine motor development will be strengthened through the opportunity to draw, color, write, and use scissors. Our curriculum and daily schedule is designed to provide your child a smooth transition into kindergarten.
